Spot Sri Lankan wildlife on safari at the Yala national park, expect to see indian elephants, wild boar and if you’re really lucky, perhaps even a leopard. visit the ancient city of Sigiriya and climb to the top of the magnificent lion’s rock for incredible views of the area. be stunned by the scenery in Kandy, home to the ‘temple of the tooth’, where it is believed the sacred tooth of lord Buddha is enshrined. spend two nights in Polonnaruwa and explore the ancient cave temples of Dambulla. take the train journey of a lifetime through Nuwara Eliya’s tea plantations, enjoying the beautiful scenery as you travel. and finally, unwind on the relaxing beaches of Mirissa, an area well known for it’s whale watching at certain times of year. still relatively untouched by tourism, now is the time to discover the spectacularly exotic island of sri lanka.

Namaste- Welcome to Sri Lanka

On arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel for check in and relaxation with a group dinner arranged for the evening.

Travel to Sigiriya and Dambulla Rock Temple

We will begin our drive to Sigiriya and enroute we will visit the famous Dambulla Rock Temple World Heritage Site, where caves have been turned into temples with beautiful buddha images inscribed in the rocks. On arrival at the hotel in the afternoon you will have some pool time to relax and unwind from the journey.

Ancient city of Polonnaruwa and cooking class with locals

After breakfast we will visit the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa by bicycles. (If you prefer not to cycle then there is an option go via your tour bus) At lunch time we will take part in a cooking class with locals where you will learn about local Sri Lankan Cuisine.

Yoga and Meditation and Sigiriya Rock Fortress

After breakfast we will visit a local retreat where we will take part in a Yoga and meditation class. Then in the afternoon we will climb the Impressive Sigiriya Rock. This is a challenging climb to the fortress at the top, but you will see the beautiful ancient ruins and be rewarded with amazing views.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth World Heritage Site

We will spend the next couple of days in Kandy, the Cultural Heart of Sri Lanka. Built around a lake and surrounded by Ornate Hills.
After breakfast we will visit the magnificent Temple of the Sacred Tooth World Heritage Site. One of the most beautiful sacred Buddhist sites in the world visited by pilgrims from afar. You will learn about the history and the spiritual significance.
In the afternoon we will take a leisurely stroll through Kandy Bazaar and local crafts market and visit local spice vendors. We will end the day watching one of the local Cultural Dance performances.

Free day in Kandy

Today we will have a free day in Kandy, Maybe take a boat ride on the beautiful lake or experience a ride in a tuk tuk around the city. You could also visit the famous Ranweli Spice Garden to find out more about its rare collection of herbs and spices.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya by train and tea plantations

After breakfast we will board the train from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya , one of the most picturesque train journeys and a must do when visiting Sri Lanka. In the afternoon we will visit one of the Lush Tea Plantations and learn about tea production and the fascinating history.

Yala National Park Safari

After breakfast we will continue onto Thissamaharama and enroute you will see the very beautiful Ravana Falls and Ella Gap surrounded by rolling hills and tea plantations as you drive through Ella town. In the evening we will go on half day jeep safari at the Yala National Park. Inside the park you can expect to see wild boar, elephants, leopards, deer, peacocks and many more animals.

Galle Dutch Fort and Museum and Mirissa beach

After breakfast, we will start our journey to the stunning beaches of Mirissa. On the way we explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Galle Dutch Fort and Museum located in the oldest remaining Dutch building before check-in to the beach resort.

Whale and Dolphin watching in Mirissa

Today we will set sail for Whale & Dolphin watching in Mirissa to take the opportunity to spot these beautiful sea mammals. The rest of the day you can take advantage of some well-earned beach time.

Turtle Conservation Project and Colombo

Today we will visit the Ahungalla Sea Turtles Conservation Project and learn more about this passionate project and then continue onto Colombo for a short tour of Colombo before a farewell dinner for your final night in Sri Lanka

After breakfast, you will have the rest of the day at leisure until your international flight departure

Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is mandatory for all our trips and should include Covid cover for trip cancellation. It must also cover you for any activities that you book that are not included in the itinerary.

CURRENCY
The preferred local currency in Sri Lankan Rupees. ATM’s are available in most major towns and credit cards are also accepted in most large restaurants, shops and hotels. We would recommend budgeting approx £20.00/£25.00 per day for meals and extras (not including alcohol). You can buy this in the UK before you travel. Tips for guide and driver and any optional activities are not included in this budget. Tips of course are discretionary for rewarding good service. We recommend USD5.00 per person per day to be split between the guide and driver.
